For life's celebrations...
To Consider
When planning your special event, begin by thinking about the following items and make a list of options. Any ideas you bring along to our meeting will help shape your ceremony.
- The purpose and focus of the ceremony
- Special rituals, traditions, customs and symbols you wish to include
- Time of year the ceremony will be held
- The date and time of the ceremony
- The venue and set up (indoors/outdoors - back up venue in case of bad weather)
- Number of people attending
- Dress code - formal, casual, themed dress-up
- Type of music you may wish to be played before, during or after the ceremony
- Your available budget
Service Fee
Depending on the type and requirements of your ceremony, my service fee ranges from $350 - $800.
As marriage ceremonies have additional legal requirements, my service fee for marriages range between $650 and $800, depending on your requirements. This is inclusive of the non-refundable lodgement of Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) fee of $200.
This can be discussed in an obligation-free initial consultation.
Marriage Ceremony Legalities
—Of the services I provide, only the Marriage Ceremony has legal requirements.
- Notice of Intended Marriage Form (NOIM) A NOIM must be lodged within 18 months and not less than one calendar month from the date the marriage is due to take place. (We will complete this format our 1st consultation)
- —Legal Age You must be over 18 years of age to marry in Australia.
- Sighting of documents If you are Australian born you must show your birth certificate in English. If you are born overseas you will need an overseas passport or birth certificate in English. If either of you have previously been married you will have to produce your Divorce Decree Absolute papers and/or Death Certificate.
- You will both also be required to sign a statutory declaration before me stating that you know of no legal impediment to you getting married (signed closer to your marriage date).
- The ceremony There are three factors that must be included in all ceremonies in order for them to be legally binding. These include the Vows, the Monitum and the Signing of Certificates (I will discuss these items with you at our 1st consultation)
- The Marriage Certificate is signed during the ceremony in the presence of two witnesses – aged over 18 years. This is then lodged with the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages after the ceremony. A commemorative keepsake marriage certificate is also signed and presented on the day.
- If you wish to use your married name, you will need to obtain a certified 'Certificate of Marriage'. The marriage certificate can be applied for from the NSW Government's Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages after the ceremony.
